By Teri Lancaster

(Editor’s note: This is the first in a series of Woman Hunter stories contributed by Teri Lancaster about one woman’s quest for the Turkey Grand Slam.)

It is the spring of 2008, March to be precise, and in North Florida, my husband Steve and I set out on our spring hunt for Osceola turkeys.

We had already scouted and located a beautiful spot to hunt. However, the river we had to cross to get there was high and too deep to walk, so we had purchased a blow-up raft and had spent time practicing crossing the river in it, with all of our gear, and we encountered no problems. But practice is one thing. The real thing? That’s quite another.
