This Must Be Heaven

Imagine 50,000 square miles of uninhabited land. Silence except for the elements of nature and beauty beyond words as far as you can see. Picture yourself looking down the barrel of a .270 Savage bolt action rifle at a huge bull caribou just 140 yards away! If that doesn’t get your adrenalin pumping, I don’t know what will.

Ten years ago I was immersed in a stressful, daily routine of work and child-raising in a competitive professional environment and a demanding home and family schedule. As with many working women, my free time was limited. And venturing out of one’s comfort zone is uncommon, especially if the not-so-comfortable “venture” is into the male-dominated field of hunting. By nature, I am competitive, but days of sporting activities had become fewer and fewer because of work and family responsibilities
